So my friend and I were supposed to see Rilo Kiley at Terminal 5 on Tuesday, June 3rd, but she was sold a ticket to the Monday show at a reduced price she couldn't pass up.  The Monday show is sold out and I'd really like to go with my friend.  Is there anyone who's thinking they can't go and are willing to sell me their ticket?

and happy graduation n shit, too

[music |l'ipod. Brave - Idina Menzel at the moment]

The other night I bought a bunch of random songs on itunes because I'm compulsive like that. I was in the mood for bluegrass/americana and I don't have much except one Nanci Griffith CD which was at work and not on my itunes so I ended up buying two songs by Rhonda Vincent and one Emmylou Harris song and some Patsy Cline (which...isn't bluegrass or americana but whatever). Anywayy I didn't really listen to them when I bought them lol.

So I'm listening to my ipod at work and I just went to the bathroom and when I came back in the Emmylou Harris song was on and whoa.... it was totally trippy.

My emotional body just took over and her voice brought me immediately back to when I was really little, sitting in my grandparent's library with Papa. He loved Emmylou Harris. I got all tingly and tears welled up... crazy when that happens.

I should get one of her whole CDs sometime, it's like comfort music to me, because it does remind me of Papa.

...

Last night was super fun! I met some cool people who hopefully I'll keep in touch with. I think I will, they said they'd come to the benefit show on June 3rd, and we have tons in common. Woo!

omg HAHAH. I just noticed LJ added a new thing at the bottom of the post section below comment screening next to music, you can choose what the "adult content" of your journal is. HILARIOUS. let's make out.

consumer reports [May. 16th, 2008|08:31 pm]

I got a new camera: Canon IXUS. My third. Aah. I'd been using a Cybershot; slipping back into the Canon operating system was like putting on a comfortable old pair of pants. I also got a new tripod to replace my horrendous "Gorrilapod." Never buy a Gorillapod. It ain't stable, it's hard to aim, it's not big enough, its litlle bubble legs get tangled in the camera strap, and it takes the fun out of autoretratos. No more!

I saw this in a Korean Burger King (just using the bathroom, not hamburgering): dump the leftover liquid into the portal on the left, then the restaurant reuses the cups and throws away the straws and lids. Why in the fuck are fast food emporia worldwide not getting down with this system?

The coolest thing at the Leeum Samsung art museum. Inside: naught but a bunch of wack celadon pottery and, like, Rothkos.

Bibimbap looks so fine through a camera's eye! This one was done right, with a raw egg on top. I get disgruntled when it's a lame fried egg that just breaks into albuminous frags instead of leaking all over and lubricating the components.

In other news, the agency is going to send my bulimic colleague home. She was asking after laxatives the other day and my roomie directed her to the nearest pharmacy. She came back working a couple of pills free of their blister pack and plopped down in front of the TV. A few minutes later, she gurgled, "Are these supposed to be all...waxy like this?" Do I even need to say it? Suppositories. Honey, go home to your mom and get the love you need.

OK, random question:

Really, how important is the tassel on graduation?? I misplaced mine and am afraid I  won't find it come 1 PM tomorrow.

On that note, does anyone have an extra they'd lend/trade me (name your poison)?

Tenchu,
Tom.

[Current Location |in my room]
[mood | complacent]

back in CT. home was okay.

left at 5:30 this morning. met with the staff and closed the building from eight till a little after nine. had breakfast with becca, elsa, and adam. plopped down for a nap at 10:45ish...and slept till three haha. I woke up a few times, but was having supremely wonderful dreams and decided I would like to just keep them going. :-P

RA banquet was tonight. pictures later, I wore my red shoes, it was good times. I won staff member o' the year for my building (and they spelled my name incorrectly on the certificate haha), and I also won the Rising Star award, that they give to a first-year RA every year. my boss started to cry when she was giving it to me, so then *I* started bawling, and it was a big mascara-y mess on both of our parts. and now here I sit, very un-tired due to my long nap, but needing to wind down so I can get up at 5:15 tomorrow so I can go to the gym and get back and shower for my 9AM closing shift.

oh and I'm going to see a Beethoven thingee with Cherie tomorrow night because she had an extra ticket...? two of them actually, and my good friend who's a grad student and in our studio is going, too. it'll be epic, I'm sure.

okay my room's such a mess. I should clean, but I think I'll save that for tomorrow and just crawl into bed instead. :-P

Anyone interested in a ticket for the Rilo Kiley show on June 2nd (a Monday) at Terminal 5?  I bought a ticket, but now I can't go - I bought it for 32.50 + Ticketmaster fees, but I'm willing to let it go to fellow Purchase kid for $20.  Let me know ASAP and we can arrange something.  Comment here or email r.savannah.c@gmail.com

give me back my lighter [May. 15th, 2008|05:24 pm]

purchase

[thepropagandist]
[mood | pessimistic]

I know this is a complete long shot since 1) it's the last couple of days of the semester for seniors so I'm sure nobody reads this thing, 2) it's just a lighter so I'm sure nobody gives a shit, and 3) whoever took it probably doesn't read the Purchase LJ anyway, but this is really the only thing I can think of to do right now short of going through the garbage:

Last night, somewhere after 3 AM, I accidentally left my lighter at J5-1, where I'd (foolishly) let a friend borrow it. This lighter has sentimental value because a friend specifically made it for me for my birthday: there's a b&w picture wrapped around the outside of a man and woman from the 1920s. Andrew claims "a million people were in and out" of J5-1 between last night and right now, and since I last saw it in the downstairs common room, I'd assume somebody walked off with it (intentionally or not). If you were at J5-1 somewhere between last night/early morning and now, and you happen to have a lighter fitting this description, please bring it back. Otherwise I'm going to assume you're just an asshole, or that it got thrown out by accident when the guys were cleaning, and both of those options pretty much toss my salad.

dear internets and assorted loves,

after an intense bout of arguing with one (rather bitchy) professor i am now the proud owner of straight A's! yes, that's right. going out with a bang! you realize, dear world, that this means i graduate MAGNA CUM LAUDE! oh fuck yeah. for all the retarded bullshit i pull it turns out i'm actually fairly intelligent. ha! (it was kind of a shock to me too.)
alas tomorrow i graduate. i went to the store today to buy brown shoes to match my brown and yellow graduation dress and instead i bought hot pink jellie sandals. i'm going to leave college in the same exact footwear i left kindergarten in? this seems fitting, given my consistent desire to dress like a 6 year old. maybe instead of my rhoda morgenstern dress i'll wear my 'I <3 DINOSAURS' shirt. maybe.
you know, i'm going to be an adult now. or at least that's the plan. but i still really like ska and star trek. i get sidetracked by sparkles and i'll do anything if it makes me laugh. i always have dirty hands and bare feet. i talk too loud and stay up too late but never do anything productive. everything seems like a good idea at the time and i can't be bothered with consequences. i sing 'never smile at a crocodile' to myself when i get scared and i puff out my cheeks when i'm bored. i take naps and i visibly swoon. i willingly talk to strangers for g-d's sake. i guess all of this is just my way of saying that i'm scared and i feel unprepared. i'm clearly not an adult.

lovelovelove,
 samantha

ps. i got bored while i was writing and made up the world's geekiest haiku!!

Hey all,

Thanks and congrats seniors! : )

Are there any guys (or strong girls) that are gonna be on campus Wednesday and can help me move a TV from the Olde over to Alumni. I have a handtruck, but I'll need help getting it onto the handtruck, down the stairs, and back up the stairs. I think it may take two people...
